Flexible tuition finance for selected Liverpool Colleges courses
StepEx works with Liverpool Colleges to offer regulated tuition finance for selected courses, allowing students to spread the cost of education over time.
Finance is optional and separate from your course application.
Your course is delivered by Liverpool Colleges. Finance is provided by StepEx Lender Ltd.
How StepEx works for Liverpool Colleges students
- You apply for your course with Liverpool Colleges.
- If you wish to spread the cost, you can apply separately for finance with StepEx via a provider-specific link.
- If approved, StepEx settles the financed portion of your course fees.
- You repay StepEx over time, based on the terms you agree.
Approval is subject to eligibility and affordability checks.

Who may be eligible
You may be eligible to apply for StepEx finance if you:
- are applying for an eligible course delivered by Liverpool Colleges; and
- meet StepEx's affordability and eligibility criteria.
Approval is not guaranteed. StepEx assesses all applications, and where demand exceeds available funding, not all applicants will be approved.

Fixed payment plan (illustrative)
You repay a fixed monthly amount over a set term.
Illustrative example: Borrow £10,000.
Repay £278 per month for 36 months.
Total repayable: £10,008.
Interest or charges may apply.
Costs and fees
All costs are shown clearly before you decide.
Depending on the course and finance option, these may include:
- •a non-refundable fee of £20 per application;
- •a non-refundable deposit (course-dependent): £250.00;
- •a platform or administration fee of £1 per month; and
- •instead of interest a charge for credit is added to the financed amount.
The total amount payable, any other charges and repayment schedule will be shown before you enter into any agreement.
Managing your finance
If you take out StepEx finance:
- your agreement is with StepEx Lender Ltd;
- repayments are managed digitally via the StepEx portal;
- you can view balances, repayments, and account details online; and
- any help you require will be provided via online chat or email for most cases.
You should be comfortable managing your agreement digitally.
Important information
- StepEx finance is optional and separate from your course application.
- Your course provider does not lend to you.
- Regulated credit is provided by StepEx Lender Ltd, an FCA-authorised consumer credit firm and a wholly owned subsidiary of Step Exchange Ltd.
- Finance is subject to eligibility and affordability checks.
- You should conduct your own research on the course you are seeking to undertake and make sure it is right for you and your aims. Any information or complaints about your course content, promotion or delivery should be directed to your course provider.
- If you miss payments due under your agreement with StepEx, we may, in line with your agreement and privacy notice, notify your training provider that your account is in arrears and they may act on this in line with their policies.
