Worried about your repayments?
If you are finding it hard to keep up with your StepEx repayments, please tell us. The earlier we know, the more we can usually do.
Getting in touch does not affect your credit score.
Tell us what has changed
If your income, hours or circumstances have changed, you can submit a Circumstance Update. We use it to work out what your repayments should be based on your situation now rather than when you applied.

Some of these may fix the problem without anyone's help, and all of them will make any conversation about it more useful.
- Check you are claiming everything you are entitled to. A lot of support goes unclaimed. MoneyHelper has a free benefits calculator.
- Write down what comes in and what goes out each month. You will need this for any conversation with us or with a debt adviser, and it often shows something that can be changed.
- Pay your essential bills first. Rent or mortgage, council tax, energy and court fines come before credit agreements, including this one, because the consequences of missing them are more serious.
- Talk to your other lenders as well. Most have a process like ours.
If you would like us to consider what we can do
Log in to my.stepex.co, go to the Invoices page, and complete a financial distress application. It asks about your income and expenses. We will look at your circumstances and come back to you.
There is no automatic outcome, and what we can offer depends on your circumstances and your agreement.
Applying may affect your credit score. For most people that is still better than continuing to miss payments, but it is your decision and you should know before you start.
Free and independent advice
You do not have to talk to us first, and you do not have to pay anyone for debt advice. These organisations are free, independent of StepEx, and will not charge you.

We would rather work something out with you, but you should know what happens if repayments are missed.
An overdue payment fee of £20 a month applies to each overdue repayment. This fee is set out in your credit agreement.
We report missed payments to credit reference agencies. This can affect your credit score and your ability to borrow in future.
If repayments stay overdue, we may require the whole outstanding balance to be paid, and we may go to court to recover it.
Getting in touch does not affect your credit score. Agreeing an arrangement does.
