Cookie policy

Last updated: 20 October 2026

This policy explains how Step Exchange Ltd ("StepEx") stores and reads information on your device when you visit stepex.co.

Essential storage

We remember whether you chose the student or education provider version of the site, until you clear your browser storage. We also remember whether you have opted out of analytics, for six months; after that we show the analytics notice again. This information is needed for the site to work as you have asked, so you cannot switch it off.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to count visits and see how the site is used: which pages are viewed, for how long, how visitors arrive, the type of device and browser, and approximate location (town or region). We see only totals and averages, never information about an individual visitor. We use this only to improve the website.

Google Analytics sets two cookies, _ga and _ga_79NS32YVQV, which last two years.

Google acts on our behalf under its data processing terms and does not use this information for its own purposes or for advertising. Google may process the information outside the UK. We keep visitor-level analytics data for two months.

How to opt out

Use the switch at the top of this page. Opting out stops analytics cookies on this device and browser. Google Analytics may still receive a basic record that a page was viewed, without cookies. If you clear your browser storage or use another device, you will need to opt out again.

Advertising and marketing

We do not use advertising or marketing cookies.
